The Ovruch kindergarten, built with Estonian support, is set to accommodate a total of 160 children once the 4 additional classrooms are completed. Harmet OÜ, the largest manufacturer of modular buildings in Estonia, won a public tender worth €1.23 million for the expansion of the Ovruch kindergarten, to be completed as part of Estonia’s initiative to reconstruct Ukraine. In addition to the new classrooms, multipurpose hall will be built, serving as a space for music and exercise classes during the same time period. Harmet OÜ also produced the modules used in construction of the first stage of the kindergarten. Nordecon AS secured the €367,964 public tender, which encompasses the construction of concrete structures, outdoor areas, an irrigation system, and an artificial turf football field.
The extension of the kindergarten will be completed by the end of December 2023. In addition to construction, Estonia actively supports the training of Ovruch kindergarten staff, as well as education managers across the Zhytomyr region.
The Ovruch kindergarten, completed as Estonia’s first reconstruction project in Ukraine, was opened on June 2nd, 2023. The construction of the kindergarten has been the largest cooperation project between the public and private sectors of Estonia to date. Construction is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a total investment of €4.5 million, the work is managed and implemented by ESTDEV. Completion of the kindergarten is also supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, which has contributed €66.000 for the purchase of technological education tools, and the Government of Flanders, which has given €100.000 toward training kindergarten administrators and teachers in the Zhytomyr region.
