Estonian Rescue Association sends a demining robot MV-4 to rescuers in Ukraine

The purpose of the remote-controlled machine is to keep the person at a safe distance during demining, ensuring the safety and efficiency of the rescuers. For Ukrainian rescuers, this is an extremely important machine that helps speed up the demining process and actually save lives.

The machine was named Yaroslava, in honour of Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the new world high jump champion. The price of the machine, including additional equipment and team training, is 1.1 million euros, which was fully covered by Estonian entrepreneurs Kristjan Rahu, Priit Koit and Valdur Laid from the company UG Investments.

The MV-4 is one of the world’s best-known lightweight mine countermeasures and EOD robotic systems. Its low profile and robust structure make the machine resistant to all anti-personnel mine detonations and unexploded ordnance of similar intensity. The demining robot can also withstand explosions from anti-tank mines. MV-4 is designed to clear a 170 cm wide strip of land from mines at a time. The device is remote controlled, so it is safer for deminers to do their work. As additional equipment, a rotating grapple, a claw for demining, and a bulldozer blade are used.

DOK-ING is the world’s leading manufacturer of demining robots, whose quality Ukrainians have no doubt about today. Currently, there are already 10 DOK-ING demining robots in Ukraine. To date, DOK-ING robots have processed nearly 1 million square meters of land and destroyed more than 700 different explosive devices.
